About the Band

Coolhand

Coolhand are a contemporary British rock band founded by songwriting duo Luke Bradshaw (guitarist) and Darren Edwards (vocalist).
Their debut self titled album ‘Coolhand’ was released in 2014 and comprises of twelve original songs/compositions written by Bradshaw and Edwards themselves. The album also includes co writing credits from Gareth Kedward (Virtual Life, Summertime Shuffle, Dead Man’s Hand, Looking Back) and Alle Pearse (Hardly The Time).
The album was written and recorded simultaneously in the studio, with Darren taking on vocal duties and Luke not only playing and recording the guitar parts but also the majority of the other instruments too. In addition Luke also produced the album himself.

The album also includes contributions/performances from the following musicians:
Quinton Quammie - Drums (Such a Fool, Everything, Hardly The Time, Give Love a Chance, Stand Up).
Paul Smith - Drums (Virtual Life, Summertime Shuffle, Dead Man’s Hand, Looking Back, Pretender Love).
Ryan Aston - Drums (Can’t Carry On).
Pablo Roberts Morales - Bass guitar (Virtual Life, Summertime Shuffle, Dead Man’s Hand, Looking Back).
Guy Morgan - Fretless Bass (Hardly The Time).
Gareth Kedward - Keyboards (Virtual Life, Summertime Shuffle, Dead Man’s Hand, Such a Fool, Looking Back, Pretender Love).
Jonathan Thomas - Pedal steel guitar (Give Love a Chance).
Sammi Broad - Backing Vocals (Virtual Life, Summertime Shuffle, Dead Man’s Hand, Looking Back, Pretender Love)

Coolhand’s debut album was released in 2014 and received rave reviews from critics and the public alike and even peaked at number 15 in the IBBA monthly chart (one position below the late, great BB King the month of his death).

Next came the task of putting a band together to perform Coolhand's music live. Gareth Kedward was the obvious choice on keyboards as was Pablo Roberts Morales on bass guitar and Sammi Broad on backing vocals. Along with the new addition of Rhys Roberts on drums, together with Luke and Darren they all formed the core of the Coolhand live band. Occasionally on bigger shows an extra rhythm guitarist (Moc Issac) and a second backing singer (Miriam Isaac) were also added to the band line up.

This eventually lead to the next album release ‘Coolhand - Live at The Globe’.
This was never an intended album but more of a happy accident. The front of house sound engineer at one particular home town show decided to multitrack/record the bands full set. So impressed with how the band sounded live when they listened back to the raw multitrack files were they that Luke and Darren decided to go into the studio to remix and produce the live recording in its entirety for a commercial release. As well as live versions of all of the songs from their debut studio album, ‘Live at The Globe’ also included three previously unreleased songs (Just a Man, Ode to Law and She’s Hot).
'Coolhand Live at The Globe' was released in 2016 and once again received rave reviews. It also showed that Coolhand could really cut it live and were not just a studio band.

As well as continuing to perform live Coolhand are currently in the early stages of writing and recording their next studio album which is due for release sometime in 2019, so watch this space.
